ACMU Statement
of Intent

The Australian Chinese Medicine Union (ACMU) is committed to helping acupuncture professionals and traditional East Asian medicine practitioners to navigate professional issues, find support, and maintain a positive and informative message about these practices to the public.

As individuals, we come together to provide support, not just for the practice aspects, but for professional peer support and the mental health aspects of navigating life as a practitioner in the ever changing Australian healthcare landscape.

All actions of the ACMU are driven by donations and by dedicated professionals of the field who volunteer their time in the best interest of the profession and the public.

The ACMU currently offers:
  • Practical resources and support to qualified practitioners of all experience levels and regardless of their affiliation with the ACMU.
  • A national practitioner directory, available to ACMU members, to help potential patients find the right practitioner for their needs.
  • A collection of relevant and high-quality published research articles.
  • Discussions and resources to improve public education in the realm of our medicine, and to ensure public safety issues, such as regulations surrounding unqualified practice, are being properly addressed.
  • Collaborations with existing government health organisations and other relevant groups to propel the profession forward and to make our medicine more accessible to the people who need us.
  • Relayed and/or provided resources to support continued professional education.
  • Support for practitioners who may have chosen to leave certain professional organizations.
  • Insight into national health laws and ethical considerations to help both registered and non-registered practitioners make informed decisions in their practice.

We aim to be professional, supportive, and inclusive. Working together, we can preserve the foundations of our medicine and ensure that we are presented in a way that is fair and ethical to practitioners and to the public.
